A Short Overview of First United Methodist Church of Allen

First United Methodist Church of Allen is a growing dynamic congregation that has been serving Collin County for more than 125 years. The church has a deep commitment to supporting people at every age and station in life. Church members share a longstanding passion for assisting local service agencies as well as other outreach ministries around the world.

On any given Sunday, visitors and members alike experience a warm welcome, a relevant message, outstanding contemporary and traditional music, and enriching small group opportunities. They also receive a weekly challenge to participate in mission and ministry in their community.

Young children find their church experience to be upbeat and purposeful. Older students discover helpful insight to facing the unique challenges of being teenagers. Adults experience meaningful friendships and the opportunity to discuss topics relevant to their daily life.

During the week, those entering the building at 601 S Greenville Ave discover a Christian preschool, Childrens Creative Playday, where more than 250 preschoolers are being prepared for public and private education. More than 250 young people participate in the church’s scouting program.

Along with these activities for children and youth, adults from all walks of life discover many other caring programs that assist them with facing life challenges. For exmple, the congregation sponsors a unique ministry called Legal Aid, which provides free legal assistance to people needing guidance and counseling with such matters. Legal Aid provides the opportunity to discuss legal matters with area attorneys. Participants have discovered a warm place to gather and a caring ear to listen. Newer ministries include CareGivers United and StandUp Parenting, sponsored by our Caring and Support Ministries.

The church is also associated with Angel Food Ministries, a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities throughout the United States. FUMC Allen services as a monthly distribution site for this program.

In addition to supporting local outreach ministries, such as Allen Community Outreach and Habitat for Humanity, FUMC Allen is involved in a unique ministry called Send Hope where medical assistance is provided to the people of the Moskito Coast of Honduras as well as Juntos Servimos, serving the colonias near Matamoros, Mexico.

If you’re looking for a church that cares deeply, serves willingly, and provides loving encouragement, we invite you to attend one of our three Sunday services: 8:15am, 9:30am, and 11:00am.
