Confirmands Go On Retreat

Confirmation is coming to a close and on March 7-9, our sixth grade confirmands go on retreat, at Sky Ranch in Van, Texas. The theme for this year’s retreat is “True North, Using Faith as a Compass for Setting Direction in Life”. Lots of fun activities are planned including orienteering, a treasure hunt, and campfire with s'mores! Keep these 46 youth and their 64 faith partners and counselors in your prayers.

Confirmation Brunch and Rehearsal

Saturday, March 29, is our Confirmation Rehearsal and Brunch. The young people to be confirmed at the 8:30am service will rehearse at 9:00am. At 9:45am, all confirmands, parents, faith partners, and teachers will enjoy a brunch in the gym hosted by the UMM and UMW. At 10:45am, the young people to be confirmed at the 9:45am and 11:00am will rehearse for their confirmations on March 30.
Fifty-two sixth graders will be confirmed this year as full members of the church. Different groups will be making their commitment to Christ at each worship service. Be sure to greet them at the conclusion of each service. On that same Sunday, all confirmands are encouraged to attend UMYF. Snack supper is at 5:30pm followed by participation in youth activities.

Confirmation Classes End March 2

Confirmation Coordinator Debbie Meaders extends a special thank you to all of the wonderful teachers who lead confirmation classes this year. “They are truly amazing,” said Debbie, “and have been a blessing to our kids!” Thank you to Lou Flowers, Randy Locke, Debbie Locke, Georjean Montgomery, Kim Howell, Melinda O'Brien, Alison Thomas, Bruce Gray, Max Nelson, Holly Stephens, Jan Dickson, Julie Brown, and Rita Rolf. Many more thanks go to Ms. Meaders. This was her first year to lead our confirmands through their journey of faith and she has done a remarkable job

Sixth Grade Confirmation is an eight-month program that meets on Sunday evenings. Confirmation classes begin in September and end in the following spring, usually the weekend following Easter.  Class members learn what it means to be a Christian, what we believe as a church, how we are to live our lives as Christians, and the story of our church's history and heritage.

A weekend retreat at Sky Ranch, visiting other churches, and attending the Confirmation Celebration are some of the extra activities.  Service projects within the church and community are incorporated into the Confirmation experience to help class members learn to be active and valuable contributors to the church.

At the end of the year, class members have the opportunity to be confirmed as full members of the church.
