Junior High Mission Trip 2007
Sacramento, New Mexico
By Alan Quick
A mountain top experience – These words sum up my week on the junior high mission trip to Sacramento, New Mexico. Why would 14 adults spend a week of vacation to be with 61 junior high kids? At the risk of creating a long waiting line of adults wanting to help out, let me list some of the week’s highlights:
- The beauty of God’s creation in the mountains of New Mexico
- Youth publicly recommitting their lives to Christ
- Most youth working very hard on building a trail for others to enjoy
- Youth interacting with adults and other youth, regardless of age groups
- Infectious laughter and joy and optimism
- Nightly singing and testimonials from youth and adults that topped any organized revival
- No TVs, PCs, video games, cell phones, or iPods but still engaging one another in conversation and card playing
- Kids turning into young adults
- A large number of strangers transformed into a welcoming family of friends
- Youth seeking and finding comfort in positive role models
Parents, thank you for loaning your sons and daughters to us for a week!
