Children’s Ministry
Our children's programs at First United Methodist Church of Allen are designed to guide, mold, and shape children--from birth through sixth grade--to know the love of God in Jesus Christ and to assist families in raising deeply committed Christians.
We want your child know that God loves them unconditionally!
Sunday School
Join us for Sunday School on Sunday at 9:30am or 11:00am. Sunday school is just one of the many ways FUMC Allen lives out its mission to make disciples of Christ.
Each Sunday morning, children are taught the great stories of the Christian faith.Together, we lay the foundation that will help our children apply these stories to life and their relationships in their families, with their friends, in the community, and in the world, both now and in the years to come.
Kindergarten through sixth grade children can be brought by their parents to our large group area we call Grace Land, upstairs in the Children's Wing. They'll spend time in Grace Land for worship, drama, and teaching. Inside their age-level classrooms, they learn life application and Bible-based lessons.
Creative Playday Preschool
FUMC Allen is home to Creative Playday Preschool for children ages 18 months through transitional kindergarten. To learn more about this wonderful program, visit their website.
Live B.I.G. (Believers In God) & Junior Youth Fellowship (JYF)

Elementary age children meet in the gym or playground (weather permitting) for games. At 7:00pm, the kindgergarten-third graders start their small group time upstairs in Grace Land. The 4th-6th graders stay in the gym until 7:30pm for an awesome game of dodge ball. They begin their study time in Grace Land at 7:30pm. Parent pick up is at 8:00pm prompt.

The Treehouse
What is The Treehouse? It is a safe, friendly, understanding, flexible alternative to Nursery care and/or Sunday school classrooms for elementary age children with special needs.
Who is invited to come to The Treehouse? It is for all families who would like an opportunity to attend church or Sunday school while caring adults and youth spend quality time with their child who needs an accommodating environment.
What makes The Treehouse different? Children are provided one to one assistance in attending an age-appropriate Sunday school classroom, if interested, for as long as they are comfortable. It is a place that can be responsive to any needs a child may have during the 9:30am worship hour.
What activities are planned? We have access to anything your child may like. We will get whatever you tell us your child enjoys such as snacks, videos, crafts, music, puzzles, games, etc. We are here to make the hour a positive experience for your child and you.
How do we sign-up? There is minimal paperwork needed. One form that helps us to know what your child’s preferences are and what you would like them to gain from the experience.
What happens if my child needs me while I am somewhere else in the church building? You are provided with a “beeper” in case of emergency.
What other programs do you have for children with special needs? We invite parents to attend any of our Special Kids Ministry meetings to learn more about the program and provide your valued input and support. To learn more, email specialkids@fumcallen.org.
Do you have a calling to serve as a Classroom Companion and/or a coordinator for these wonderful children? Just two hours a month can make a huge difference in the life of a child. No experience is necessary. Just a loving heart and a desire to be invovled with our wonderful kids. Give us a call at 214.385.8850!
