Recreational Ministries
FUMC Allen's recreational ministries offer a wide variety of programs for all ages.
Children
The UPWARD Sports Program is a wonderful way for your child to learn to play a variety of sports in a Christian environment! FUMC Allen has worked with Upward Sports Ministry since 2007 to offer a variety of activites for kids ages 4 through grade 6.
Our first UPWARD Indoor Soccer game on September 24, 2011, saw 54 players in action, ranging in age from 4 years old to third grade. Our awesome volunteer coaches, officials and concession workers kept every one fed and well organized. Join us on Saturdays in October in the gym to watch the younger group plays at 8:45am. Our older kids play at 10:00am and 11:00am.As always, Upward appreciates your ongoing prayers for this ministry as we teach the players not only how to play soccer but also that Jesus loves them very much and wants to be the Lord of their lives.
We had the privilege of working with 142 kids at our UPWARD Sports Summer Camps in 2011. We were blessed with volunteers who did an awesome job of working with the kids.
The season for our Upward Basketball and Cheer league, a positive Christian sports experience for our children, begins in January 2012. This league is for children 5 years through the sixth grade. The cost is $90.00 for the entire season. We open registration each October, evaluations take place in December, and practices begin the first week of January.Share this information with your neighbors and friends! We’re always need of volunteers to help in the areas of coaching, officiating, and concessions. If you can help, contact Greg Schell.

Youth/Special Kids Ministry
Apt. G: A Place to Go is a ministry for special needs teens and young adults.Monthly events run from September through May on the third Saturday of each month from 7:00pm-9:30pm in the youth wing. We always need youth and adult volunteers to help with this awesome ministry. Contact Debbie Locke to volunteer or to be added to the Apt G guest list.
If your child needs assistance in Sunday school or any other church activity because of a special need, contact our Special Kids Ministry to tell us about your child. We offer The TreeHouse Room on Sunday mornings in the Children's Ministry wing during the 9:30am traditional worship service. This is a children's classroom where parents can drop off their child with special needs for Sunday school. They are paired with a Classroom Companion to help them better fully participate in Children's Ministry programming. The TreeHouse Room also provides a quiet space if needed. This classroom is located in the Preschool Hallway (near the doughnuts!). To learn more about The Treehouse Room, contact Casey Garland.
We also invite parents to attend any of our Special Kids Ministry meetings to learn more about the program and provide your valued input and support. To learn more, email specialkids@fumcallen.org.
